The Balay Lama herself, Candy Shaw, sat down recently to discuss her salon's training program and how incredibly beneficial it's been to not only the growth of the salon and all her stylists, but also how it's even helped ease the reopening process as hairdressers get back to work amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation. “You have to create your own Brand and Culture. So many talk about having an education program, but taking a class once a quarter is not enough . You must make it a part of your everyday routine. For instance, if someone works with an assistant, it is their responsibility to train and work with them every day. Our salon pays for half of their salary in exchange for their mentorship and coaching. But in the end, they do not earn a chair on the floor and a full book without taking all their tests, assisting me so I may dot their i’s and cross their t’s before graduating and for them to buy into our message.” Excited to read more?
